Eligibility

  • According to league rules, players must attend a public school in the Owen J. Roberts School District. The hockey club is not affiliated with OJR, we receive no funding, busing, coaches, equipment, etc.
  • Levels
    • Middle School players must be in 4th - 8th grades (4th graders need to be approved by the league for safety purposes). No one in any higher grade can play on Middle School, regardless of skill level.
    • Junior Varsity and Varsity players must be in 9 - 12th grades.
    • When a Varsity team is fielded for a season, there are rules that guide coaches as to eligibility to play on both JV and Varsity.
  • Each player must be registered with USA Hockey in order for us to roster him/her with the league.

Commitments

Besides a great work ethic (!), Wildcat players need several things in order to play on the club.

  • Participate in practices! We practice once a week during Winter season (normally no practices during Spring League). We start in late Summer and continue through the season. Practices during the season are usually at the Hill School's hockey rink - although Summer practics are out near Reading.
  • Every player must have his/her own equipment. We don't receive equipment from the school district and don't have funds for an equipment supply. However, if you don't have all the equipment you need, there are often current and past team parents who have some extra "hand-me-downs."
  • Transportation to/from games and practices is up to player parents. We have an e-mail distribution list that can be used to ride share or car pool.

Registration Process

Registering for the team takes 3 steps:

  1. Register with USA Hockey. Cost should be approximately $30 per player per calendar year.
    2. Tip: When the USA Hockey on-line registration is complete, a confirmation code is displayed in your web browser. Copy that string of numbers and letters in order to paste it into the Wildcat on-line registration.
  2. Fill out a registration form for our club. Parent signatures are required PRIOR to any player being allowed onto the ice, but the on-line registration form can be used to submit a registration to the club electronically. The online form can be used to print and mail.
  3. As you'd expect, you need to pay your child's fees. Cost for Fall-Winter 2009-10 is $800 per player for JV and Varsity; $900 for Middle School. Jerseys are extra for 1st time members - all equipment is player's responsibility. Fees must be paid in full before a player is permitted to play for any of the Wildcat teams.
